Welcome
Community Schooling has become one of the most viable sources of education
for the children of Zambia and community schools require private funding.During the 1990's Zambia's education system couldn't accommodate the thousands of children who required primary school education. The HIV/AIDS pandemic has left orphaned children without carers and these children don't have access to mainstream education provided by government schools.
Community Schools came into existence as a result of this dire need. Churches, concerned citizens and carers started these schools to provide basic literacy and numeracy skills for orphans, disadvantaged and vulnerable children.Phillip and Henrietta Bandah School Inc. (previously known as Australia-Zambia Education Services) started its partnership with one community school in 2003. A second school joined the partnership in 2006 when the organisation became a registered charity. Our two community schools now provide education for approximately 350 students. The schools are Nekhairo Community School in Kabushi and Golgota Community School in Masala - both are in Ndola. For more information about African city of Ndola click here.
The Mission for the organisation is to support a a teacher in order to
support a wider community as teachers are at the centre of the community
schools. Consequently, we decided to partly pay teachers salaries in order
to reach the large number of children who attend the two community schools.
We currently fund salaries for 4 teachers. Teachers' resources, i.e.
syllabus guide books which are required by the Zambia Ministry of Education
are also provided by the organisation. However, due to lack of funds, we are
so far unable provide students' work books as recommended in the syllabus. Availability of these work books will greatly enhance
students' learning
